Alex Palou has signed a multi-year contract extension with Chip Ganassi Racing, securing his place through the 2027 season. The deal was finalized after this week's Indianapolis 500 test. Palou, a Spanish driver now in his sixth season with the team, has won four INDYCAR championships in five years, including the last three consecutive titles. He also won the 2024 Indianapolis 500 and has eight wins in that season alone.
Palou currently leads the championship standings after winning three of the first five races this year, including the Long Beach Grand Prix. He has 22 career victories in 103 starts, ranking fifth in INDYCAR history. Rival drivers like Will Power praise his consistency: "He's qualifying well, executing in races, and the pit stops are top-notch." Dario Franchitti, a four-time champion and Ganassi advisor, says Palou is "the complete package."
Palou’s trophy case now includes four titles, matching legends Mario Andretti and Sebastien Bourdais. His 61 top-five finishes in 103 starts trails only Andretti's 64 in the post-World War II era.
