The second annual Wienie 500 delivered hot dog-themed motorsports excitement Friday at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Six Oscar Mayer Wienermobiles representing different U.S. regions competed on the iconic 2.5-mile oval.
New York Dog emerged victorious, holding off Chili Dog and defending champion Slaw Dog in a three-wide battle on the final lap. The race featured the debut of Corn Dog, a fan-selected entry replacing the relegated Sonoran Dog.
INDYCAR drivers Scott McLaughlin, Nolan Siegel, and Sting Ray Robb coached the Wienermobile drivers in the lead-up to the race.
Final results: 1. New York Dog, 2. Chili Dog, 3. Slaw Dog, 4. Chi Dog, 5. Seattle Dog, 6. Corn Dog.
The race served as a lighthearted appetizer for Sunday's 110th Running of the Indianapolis 500, where Alex Palou leads the field to green at 12:30 p.m. ET on FOX.
