SPIELBERG, Austria - Aston Martin team principal Mike Krack made it clear double world champion Fernando Alonso should keep racing in Formula One beyond 2023.
"Fernando should not retire. He is too quick," Krack said.
Alonso, 44, whose contract expires at year-end, said he remains fast and motivated but will wait until around August's summer break to choose his next move. "I will keep racing because I'm feeling fast, I feel motivated, and I love what I do," he said, adding racing could be outside F1.
With only one point so far in a troubled start to the new Honda engine partnership, Aston Martin sits 10th of 11 teams. Media reports link Alonso to a return to Renault-owned Alpine, now run by his former championship-winning boss Flavio Briatore.
Alonso said Krack's comments did not accelerate his timeline, and he remains committed to the Aston Martin project regardless of whether he races for them.
