Four-time world champion Max Verstappen's Monaco Grand Prix lasted just one slow lap, as a power unit problem forced him to retire. The Dutchman qualified brilliantly on Saturday to start alongside Mercedes' Kimi Antonelli on the front row, but his car remained stationary when the lights went out. He managed to get moving, limping around the circuit before his team told him to "bring it home" and he returned to the garage.
"The engine just dropped dead," Verstappen told Sky Sports. "Engine sounded really awful, couldn't go full throttle so we brought it back."
This continues a miserable season for Verstappen, who has voiced his disapproval of the new hybrid engine regulations and even threatened to quit the sport.
