American speedskater Mia Manganello, 36, captured a bronze medal in the women’s mass start during her final Olympic race Saturday at the Milano Speed Skating Stadium. She made a decisive push in the last lap to secure her spot on the podium.

This marks Manganello's first individual Olympic medal after three appearances. She previously won a bronze in the women's team pursuit at the 2018 Pyeongchang Games. Her journey to this medal was not without its challenges, including a switch to professional cycling for six years before returning to speed skating in 2016.

Manganello's bronze is the U.S. women's first speed skating medal of the 2026 Milan Cortina Olympic Games. Her achievement contributes to the United States' overall medal count, which surpassed Italy's for second place in the Olympic standings.
