Johannes Lochner of Germany has taken a commanding lead in the Four-Man bobsleigh at the Winter Olympics. Lochner opened a significant halfway lead, aiming to secure a second gold medal in Cortina d'Ampezzo.

Lochner established a 0.43-second advantage over compatriot Francesco Friedrich. He posted a track record of 53.91 seconds in the first run and followed with 54.70 seconds.

Despite matching the start record, Friedrich encountered challenges in the early curves. He was 0.39 seconds behind after the initial run and lost further ground on the second.

Germany has shown strong performance, sweeping the podium in the Two-Man event. Adam Ammour, who won bronze in the Two-Man, is currently in third place in the Four-Man, 0.59 seconds off the lead. Other nations like Switzerland, Italy, and Great Britain are trailing.

Lochner is on course to potentially replicate his Two-Man victory and secure his first Olympic golds after winning silver medals behind Friedrich in 2022.
