Standing at 6'7" and 330 pounds, former NFL offensive lineman Ben Braden has found a new competitive arena in IndyCar. After a spinal injury ended his six-year professional football career, Braden transitioned to a role as a fueler for Meyer Shank Racing.

Braden's path to racing began through chance encounters at a gym with team owner Ed Carpenter. He found that the intensity, attention to detail, and focus required in football translated effectively to the precision of pit stops. He notes that fueling involves significant footwork, similar to his days protecting quarterbacks.

Despite the physical differences from playing in the NFL, Braden's meticulous approach, honed through extensive film study and footwork drills, allows him to excel. He emphasizes a 'slow is smooth, smooth is fast' philosophy for precise hose placement during refueling. Now focusing on his lower body and core strength, Braden aims to help driver Marcus Armstrong achieve victory circle.
