World number one Carlos Alcaraz has reached the Qatar Open final, extending his unbeaten run in 2026 with a victory over defending champion Andrey Rublev. Alcaraz secured the win with a 7-6(3) 6-4 scoreline on Friday.
This marks Alcaraz's 12th final appearance in his last 13 tournaments. Despite Rublev's strong fightback in the second set, saving five match points, the 22-year-old Spaniard ultimately prevailed, extending his winning streak to 11 matches this season.
Alcaraz, a multiple Grand Slam champion, expressed pride in his consistent approach and improved maturity on court. "I know what I'm able to do every time that I step on court. For me it's great. Obviously, the way I'm approaching every match, I'm just really proud about it," he stated.
The first set saw both players exchange breaks, leading to a tiebreak where Alcaraz's composure proved decisive. He then secured a crucial break in the second set and, after facing a comeback from Rublev, converted his sixth match point to seal the victory.
Alcaraz will face either Jakub Mensik or Arthur Fils in the final.
