Basketball Hall of Famer Charles Barkley has voiced frustration with public reactions to the U.S. men's hockey team's White House invitation following their Olympic gold medal win.

Barkley, speaking on "The Steam Room" podcast, criticized the politicization of the event, stating that the public often falls for divisiveness. He argued that the controversy, which stemmed from President Trump's remarks about inviting the women's team, needlessly creates division.

"Everything isn’t Democrat, Republican, conservative, liberal. That’s why we got this divided, screwed up country. Stop it man," Barkley stated. He believes the public is easily triggered and should not fall for manufactured outrage.

Barkley emphasized his respect for the office of the President, regardless of who holds it, and stated he would accept a White House invitation. He also expressed understanding for athletes who might choose not to attend.
