Stony Brook men's basketball player Erik Pratt has been suspended for spitting at a fan during the team's recent loss to Monmouth. The incident occurred with under three minutes remaining in the game.
Athletic Director Shawn Helibron stated Pratt's behavior was inappropriate and did not meet institutional standards. Pratt acknowledged his mistake and accepted responsibility. At the time of his ejection, Pratt was leading the team with 14 points and eight assists.
Pratt is Stony Brook's leading scorer, averaging 19.4 points per game. His absence for the upcoming game against Hofstra is a significant blow, as the team fights for seeding in the CAA tournament. Pratt previously played for Milwaukee and Texas A&M.
