Chelsea forward Pedro Neto has been suspended for one match and fined 70,000 pounds ($93,000) for misconduct following his dismissal in the recent Premier League defeat to Arsenal. The Football Association confirmed the penalty on Friday.
Neto was shown two yellow cards within three minutes during the 2-1 loss. The first was for dissent after an Arsenal goal, and the second for a foul on Gabriel Martinelli. The FA stated it was alleged Neto failed to leave the pitch promptly and used abusive language towards match officials after his 70th-minute dismissal.
This marks Chelsea's ninth red card of the season. Neto admitted the charge and will miss the upcoming match against Newcastle United. He also faces separate UEFA disciplinary action for an incident involving a ball boy in a Champions League match.
