Chicago Cubs center fielder Pete Crow-Armstrong has been fined an undisclosed amount following an incident with a female heckler during Saturday's 8-3 loss to the Chicago White Sox.

After making a play in the fifth inning, the 24-year-old responded to the fan's taunts with a vulgar remark: "You suck my f--ing d-k b----."

Crow-Armstrong expressed regret on Monday, saying he regretted his choice of words and the impact on women in his life. Cubs manager Craig Counsell acknowledged the mistake, calling fan interactions a challenging part of the job.

A first-time All-Star last season, Crow-Armstrong is among baseball's top defensive center fielders. He is currently hitting .229 with five home runs and 20 RBI this season.
