Sweden's women's curling team has achieved unprecedented strength, securing their second Olympic gold medal, skip Anna Hasselborg announced. The team defeated Switzerland 6-5, marking them as the first women's squad to earn three Olympic medals, including gold in 2018 and bronze in 2022.
Hasselborg attributed the victory to a more aggressive strategy and exceptional team spirit. "Everything just came together this weekend," she stated. "Technically, we're so strong, but I think the key one thing is our team spirit, and the trust we have for each other."
Despite facing lineup changes due to team members' pregnancies in 2023, Sweden rebuilt their form, winning a third European Curling Championship title. They dominated the round-robin and defeated top-ranked Canada in the semi-finals to reach the final.
For the 36-year-old Hasselborg, the victory held special significance with her children present. "It's everything I ever dreamt of," she said. "I'm so proud to be able to show them that anything is possible, with the support of the family. You can do anything."
