Star defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence is embracing a new chapter with the Cincinnati Bengals following his trade from the New York Giants. Lawrence revealed he feels an "fire in me that I’ve never had before," signaling a heightened level of motivation.

The Giants fulfilled Lawrence’s trade request, sending the three-time Pro Bowl selection to the Bengals in exchange for the No. 10 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. Lawrence, a former 17th overall pick, had become a fan favorite and one of the league's top interior defensive linemen.

Despite two years remaining on his contract and a new coaching regime in New York, Lawrence sought a move. He views his arrival in Cincinnati as a significant opportunity. "They wanted me here and they appreciate the work that I’ve put in," Lawrence stated, expressing excitement about proving his worth with a top-10 pick.

The Bengals also secured Lawrence with a one-year, $28 million extension, keeping him through 2028. Lawrence aims to deliver immediate impact, bringing a proven track record of 30.5 sacks, 15 pass breakups, and 341 tackles in 109 career games with the Giants.

Lawrence is ready to embrace the pressure of his new role. "I know people are going to say [there’s] pressure, but I embrace it," he said. "I’m going to be the guy to help this defense go to the next level."
