AMSTERDAM, March 14 - Dutch football legends Patrick Kluivert and Clarence Seedorf are joining Suriname’s World Cup playoff push. The team faces Bolivia in Monterrey, Mexico, on March 26, with a potential clash against Iraq on March 31 for a spot in the finals across Canada, Mexico, and the U.S.

Seedorf, 49, born in Suriname, played 87 times for the Netherlands, including the 1998 World Cup semi-finals. Kluivert, also 49, scored 40 goals for the Dutch; his father hailed from Suriname.

Suriname’s general manager Brian Tevreden said both serve as advisors and ambassadors. Former Dutch international Stanley Menzo stepped down after missing direct qualification; Henk ten Cate now leads the team, supported by Winston Bogarde and Jimmy Floyd-Hasselbaink.

The effort marks a historic moment for a nation seeking its first World Cup appearance.
