England won the rain-interrupted first test against New Zealand at Lord’s by 115 runs with a day and two sessions to spare. New Zealand, chasing 254 to win, were dismissed for 138 before lunch on day four.

Resuming at 55 for five, the visitors lost Tom Blundell early to Josh Tongue. Devon Conway fought for 41 before being caught off Ben Stokes, while Glenn Phillips remained unbeaten on 44.

Gus Atkinson was the standout bowler for England with five for 30. Ollie Robinson took two for 38. The second test of the three-match series begins June 17 at The Oval.
