Lazio has advanced to the Coppa Italia final, defeating Atalanta 2-1 in a penalty shootout following a 1-1 draw. Goalkeeper Edoardo Motta was instrumental, saving four Atalanta penalties to secure the victory.
The aggregate score stood at 3-3 after the second leg in Bergamo. Atalanta thought they had taken the lead in the second half, but a goal was disallowed after VAR review. Lazio then scored in the 84th minute through Alessio Romagnoli, only for Mario Pasalic to equalize for Atalanta two minutes later.
Gianluca Scamacca’s header in stoppage time was tipped onto the post by Motta, forcing extra time. After a goalless extra period, Lazio emerged victorious in the shootout. They will face Inter Milan in the final on May 13th.
