Formula 2 is evaluating alternative race locations should its scheduled rounds in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia be cancelled next month. The support series faces potential disruption from regional conflict.

Dan Towriss, CEO of Cadillac F1 team, indicated that "potential alternatives" are being considered, noting uncertainty about the duration of any break for drivers like American test driver Colton Herta. Formula 2 has a test session in Bahrain scheduled for late March, with a decision on its races potentially preceding Formula One's.

Cancellation of the Middle Eastern rounds, amid escalating geopolitical tensions, would leave Formula 2 without a race until Monaco in June. This contrasts with Formula One's schedule, which includes races in Miami and Montreal in May.

Sources suggest a standalone European round is a possibility if circuits possess the required infrastructure, though no decision has been made. Formula One is expected to delay its decision on the Bahrain and Saudi Arabia races, with current expectations leaning towards cancellation without replacement. The F1 freight deadline for Bahrain is approaching.
