Former England captain and manager Kevin Keegan, 75, has revealed he is battling stage four cancer. The diagnosis came after a car accident led to a scan, revealing the disease had spread.

Keegan, a two-time European Footballer of the Year, shared the news over the weekend at Newcastle's Tyne Theatre and Opera House. He described meeting a specialist-a Liverpool supporter-who gave him a 33% strike rate for treatment.

"I'm still here at the moment," Keegan said, reflecting on his fight and the support from his former club, Newcastle United.

Keegan's storied career includes trophy-laden stints at Liverpool and Hamburg as a forward, and managing Newcastle and the England national team.

Newcastle United released a statement calling Keegan a "unique and cherished place" in their history, sending strength to him and his family.
