BOURNEMOUTH, England - Harry Maguire’s impulsive foul cost Manchester United two crucial points in a 2-2 draw at Bournemouth, derailing their push toward the Premier League summit.

Maguire, named earlier Friday to the England squad, initially helped force a James Hill own goal to put United ahead 2-1 in the 71st minute. But just seven minutes later, he yanked Evanilson’s shirt inside the box, earning a straight red and conceding a penalty. Teenager Junior Kroupi converted coolly.

Bruno Fernandes had opened scoring in the 61st minute from the spot after Alejandro Jimenez fouled Matheus Cunha. Ryan Christie equalized six minutes later with a precise finish past keeper Senne Lammens.

The result leaves United third with 55 points-15 behind Arsenal and six off Manchester City. Bournemouth sit 10th with 42 points.
