Joey Browner, a former NFL star defensive back, died at 65. Selected by the Minnesota Vikings in the 1983 draft from USC, Browner became a Pro Bowl player and six-time All-Pro. He played 138 games with the Vikings, recording 37 interceptions and 9.5 sacks.
Honored in the Vikings’ Ring of Honor in 2013, Browner’s best season was 1990 when he intercepted seven passes. His colleagues remember him for his talent and positive influence.
After nine years with the Vikings, Browner briefly played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before retiring in 1992.
