JOHOR BAHRU - The Johor government has declared a special state holiday on Monday, May 25, to celebrate the Johor Darul Ta’zim football club winning the Malaysia Cup.
Known as the Southern Tigers, JDT defeated Kuching City FC 2-0 on Saturday night, securing their fourth consecutive Malaysia Cup title-the only club to achieve that feat.
Chief Minister Onn Hafiz Ghazi announced the holiday with the consent of Johor Regent Tunku Mahkota Ismail, calling the victory a gift to the people and the team’s loyal supporters.
Onn Hafiz said the win proves the state leadership's commitment to developing modern, high-performance football, making JDT a source of pride nationally and across Asia.
