TORONTO - Canada tied Iceland 2-2 in a tense international soccer friendly on Saturday.
Jesse Marsch’s Canada came back from a 2-0 deficit, with Jonathan David scoring twice from the penalty spot.
Tajon Buchanan was sent off in the 80th minute for an elbow to Iceland midfielder Mikael Egiil Ellertsson.
Orri Steinn Oskarsson scored both goals for Iceland.
The Canadians are preparing to co-host the 2026 World Cup with the U.S. and Mexico.
Canada's next match is against Tunisia on Tuesday at BMO Field.
The team will face Qatar on June 18 and Switzerland on June 24 in Vancouver.
