Major League Baseball has upheld an 80-game unpaid suspension for Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Johan Rojas after his appeal was denied.
Rojas tested positive for Boldenone, an anabolic steroid banned under MLB’s Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.
The 25-year-old was removed from the Dominican Republic’s World Baseball Classic roster before the semifinals. The D.R. lost 2-1 to Team USA in that game.
Rojas will miss the first half of the 2025 MLB season and won’t be eligible for the Phillies’ postseason roster if they qualify.
He is the second MLB player suspended this cycle: Atlanta Braves infielder Jurickson Profar received a 162-game ban for a second PED violation.
