France international defender Ibrahima Konate is set to leave Liverpool after his contract expires next month, following the breakdown of negotiations over wage demands.

The 27-year-old, who joined from RB Leipzig for £36 million in 2021, was a key figure in Liverpool's 2024-25 Premier League title win, forming a stellar defensive partnership with captain Virgil van Dijk.

During his time at Anfield, Konate also won two League Cups and the FA Cup, and finished runner-up in the Champions League in 2022.

He is the third Liverpool player to leave as a free agent this season, after Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson.

In an emotional social media post, Konate expressed regret at not being able to say goodbye to fans after the final home game against Brentford.
