After a rain-delayed and crash-filled attempt at “The Double” in 2024, Kyle Larson shares his experience ahead of a new documentary.
Larson aimed to join Tony Stewart as the only drivers to complete both the Indy 500 and Coke 600 in the same day. His 2025 effort ended early with a crash on lap 92 of the Indy 500, though rain had already jeopardized the timeline.
“It’s just a really long day,” Larson said. “It takes more mental stamina than anything.”
His journey is chronicled in the Amazon Prime Video documentary “Kyle Larson vs. The Double,” releasing next week.
Larson admitted he was initially reluctant to relive the emotions but found the process rewarding: “It was honestly really cool for me to live back and see where my head was at.”
Despite the hardship, Larson says a future attempt is unlikely as long as he remains a full-time NASCAR driver. He was later “repaid” by winning the Brickyard and the NASCAR Cup Series championship.
