U.S. women’s ice hockey captain Hilary Knight has responded to comments made by President Donald Trump, stating his joke about inviting the women's team to the White House is "overshadowing" the success of both the men's and women's teams.

During a celebration for the men's team's gold medal win, Trump quipped about needing to invite the women's team, suggesting he might be impeached. Knight, a five-time Olympic medallist, described the remark as a "distasteful joke" during a SportsCenter interview.

She emphasized the importance of celebrating the women's "extraordinary efforts" and their "gold medal feats," noting that the men's team players were in a difficult position regarding the comment. The women's team ultimately declined the White House invitation, citing prior commitments.
