LeBron James said Monday night his future in the NBA is unclear, leaving the door open for retirement after the Los Angeles Lakers were swept by the Oklahoma City Thunder in the second round of the playoffs.

James, 41, made the comments following a Game 4 loss that ended the Lakers' season. He stated he has not ruled out retirement or a return to the Lakers for a 24th season.

"I don't know what the future holds for me," James said. "I've got a lot of time now. I'll go back and recalibrate with my family."

The Thunder eliminated the Lakers with a 115-110 victory. The Lakers were without Luka Doncic, who missed the playoffs with a hamstring injury.

James led the Lakers past the Houston Texans in the first round before falling to the defending champions.

Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander praised James' performance. "It's amazing what he's doing out there at this age," Gilgeous-Alexander said. "His longevity and his greatness-I'm not sure we'll see anything like that again."

James, a 22-time All-Star and four-time NBA champion, is the league's all-time leader in points, games played, and field goals attempted. He averaged 20.9 points and 6.1 rebounds this season.
