LeBron James says the San Antonio Spurs have been 'lucky as f---' with their No. 1 overall draft picks, landing three generational talents: David Robinson, Tim Duncan, and Victor Wembanyama.
James made the comments on his podcast, praising the Spurs for finding players with a 'dead-serious mentality' and a mission-first approach.
Wembanyama, now in his third season, is leading San Antonio against the Oklahoma City Thunder in the Western Conference Finals. In Game 1, the 22-year-old had 41 points and 24 rebounds, joining Wilt Chamberlain as the only players with 40+ points and 20+ boards in a conference finals debut. He also matched David Robinson as the only Spur with those numbers in a playoff game.
In Game 2, Wembanyama posted 21 points, 17 rebounds, six assists and four blocks in a losing effort. The series is tied 1-1, with Game 3 set for Friday in San Antonio.
Robinson won two NBA championships with the Spurs; Duncan won five. San Antonio hopes Wembanyama can bring more titles to Texas.
