Former Olympic silver medallist Luvo Manyonga is set to return to international competition after a seven-year hiatus. The 35-year-old South African athlete has been selected for the delegation competing in the World Indoor Championships in Torun, Poland.

Manyonga concludes a four-year ban imposed in December 2024 after failing to assist anti-doping officials with sufficient information. This follows an earlier suspension linked to recreational drug use involving the local variant of crystal methamphetamine known as tik.

Despite the setbacks, the Rio 2016 silver medallist aims to qualify for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. His best jump this season sits at 8.11 meters, ranking him 17th globally.

"I think I have another Olympics in me because in those four years I was out, it was like a car was parked," Manyonga stated previously regarding his rehabilitation and recovery.

Prior to his recent suspension, he secured gold at the 2017 World Championships and the Commonwealth Games.
