Mirra Andreeva is just one win away from her first Grand Slam title, reaching the final of the French Open at 19 years old.
The Russian teenager defeated Ukraine's Marta Kostyuk 6-1, 6-3 in the semifinals, a match charged with political tension. Andreeva showed remarkable composure, a stark contrast to her emotional collapse at the same tournament last year.
Under the guidance of coach Conchita Martinez, Andreeva has developed clear game plans and mental resilience. She credited her improved focus, saying she could "see the hairs on the ball" during the match.
Andreeva will face qualifier Maja Chwalinska in the final. "I never thought I'd be able to win big tournaments," Andreeva said. "Now I'm very close, and I'm very excited."
