Manchester United have officially appointed Michael Carrick as permanent head coach on a two-year contract, extending his tenure at Old Trafford through 2028.
The 44-year-old former midfielder took over on an interim basis in January after Ruben Amorim's dismissal and orchestrated a remarkable turnaround. Carrick guided United to 11 wins in 16 matches, securing a third-place Premier League finish and a return to the Champions League.
Carrick expressed pride in leading the club, stating he felt the "magic of Manchester United" and is determined to challenge for major honors. Director of football Jason Wilcox praised Carrick for restoring a winning culture and aligning with the club's traditions.
Carrick now faces the challenge of strengthening the squad during the summer transfer window to prepare for a domestic title push and a multi-front European campaign.
