Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes is on the verge of Premier League history. He is one assist away from tying the single-season record of 20, shared by Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne.
Fernandes has four games left, starting Sunday against Liverpool, to set the record outright. His style is defined by ambition and risk, threading passes that defenses cannot anticipate.
Teammate Casemiro calls him the "heartbeat" of the side. Interim manager Michael Carrick believes he deserves the league's Player of the Year award.
"He deserves it for the impact he has had," Carrick said.
Fernandes has 70 assists in seven seasons at Old Trafford. He already broke David Beckham's club record for a single Premier League season with 16 assists.
