AMSTERDAM, March 24 - Netherlands forward Noa Lang will miss Friday's World Cup warm-up against Norway after undergoing surgery for a deep thumb injury. The 26-year-old suffered the wound during Galatasaray's Champions League match at Anfield, when his hand became trapped between advertising boards in a freak incident. He was treated at an English hospital.

While Lang is ruled out for the Amsterdam fixture, Dutch medical staff anticipate his return for next week's friendly against Ecuador in Eindhoven.

The Netherlands enter the World Cup window with a growing injury list: Frenkie de Jong, Matthijs de Ligt, Memphis Depay, Emmanuel Emegha, Justin Kluivert, and backup goalkeeper Robin Roefs are all sidelined.
