PGA Tour CEO Brian Rolapp revealed a potential overhaul of the golf circuit, centered on a two-track system with promotion and relegation. This concept aims to concentrate top-tier play into an elevated series of 21 to 26 tournaments from late January to early September, including the four majors and The Players Championship.

A parallel second track would provide a merit-based pathway for players to ascend to the top level. Rolapp compared the proposed system to English soccer, where clubs move between leagues based on performance.

"Play well, and you earn the opportunity to compete in our biggest events - and for more money," Rolapp stated.

The Tour is also considering a shift away from smaller, no-cut events towards more consistent fields of approximately 120 players. The schedule could also be adjusted, potentially opening with a high-profile West Coast event at a renowned venue.

Ideas for the postseason are also under review, including the addition of match play to heighten competition. Rolapp emphasized that these discussions are exploratory and no final proposals have been made.

Some changes may be implemented as early as next year, with more significant overhauls anticipated for the 2028 season. The Tour aims to balance urgency with precision in shaping the future of the game.
