Bob Harlan, who led the Green Bay Packers as president and CEO for nearly two decades, has died at the age of 89. His family confirmed his passing after a brief illness.

Harlan, who joined the Packers in 1971, became president and CEO in 1989, serving until his retirement in 2008. During his leadership, the team achieved significant on-field success, including a Super Bowl victory in 1997, and oversaw a transformative $295 million renovation of Lambeau Field.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell credited Harlan with restoring the Packers' tradition of excellence and ensuring the franchise's strong footing for future generations. Former quarterback Brett Favre also praised Harlan's leadership and support, calling him a great and kind man.

Harlan is the father of sports broadcaster Kevin Harlan.
