Le Nadia, Montreal's pioneering sports bar dedicated exclusively to women's sports, has shut down at its Hochelaga location just months after opening to packed crowds.
Co-owner Catherine D. Lapointe expressed deep disappointment for the community, which has flooded social media asking where to watch the Montreal Victoire now.
Chantal Gagnon, the borough mayor of Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve, stated the closure followed noise compliance issues. The co-founders decided to relocate, and the borough is reviewing its noise by-law to better support cultural vibrancy.
Lapointe views the setback as a temporary penalty in a game and is actively seeking a nearby space to continue serving the community. She insists support for the concept has only grown stronger.
