STOCKHOLM, April 1 - Graham Potter led Sweden to a dramatic 3-2 victory over Poland, sealing their place in the 2026 World Cup finals.
Taking over a struggling squad after Jon Dahl Tomasson’s dismissal, Potter transformed Sweden from bottom of their qualifying group to playoff contenders. His tactical shift to zonal defense and reliance on striker Viktor Gyokeres proved decisive.
Gyokeres netted a hat-trick, including the match-winning goal in the 88th minute, sending Sweden to the tournament in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
"It's the best night of my life," Potter said post-match, flanked by his sons in Swedish kits.
Once booed by fans, Potter is now hailed as the architect of Sweden’s resurgence. Their World Cup group includes Netherlands, Japan and Tunisia.
