American boxer Hannah Rapp, who recently challenged for a world title, has died. She was 26 years old.
Rapp was killed on Saturday after being hit by a car while cycling, according to the Brazos County Sheriff's Office in Texas.
The rising star had compiled an impressive professional record of eight wins, one draw, and a single loss. That loss came just last month in a bid for the WBC featherweight championship against Tiara Brown.
"She was an exceptional boxer, but above all, an invaluable member of our boxing family," said WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman. "We join in the grief that overwhelms her loved ones."
Authorities have arrested 31-year-old Charles Medina in connection with the crash. He is charged with manslaughter.
