Mercedes driver George Russell claimed a dominant victory at the Austrian Grand Prix on Sunday. He started from pole and held off a strong challenge from Red Bull's Max Verstappen.

Russell's win trims the championship lead held by his teammate, Kimi Antonelli, who finished third. Antonelli now leads Russell by 40 points in the standings.

The race featured a thrilling battle between Verstappen, who recovered from a qualifying crash to finish second, and Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton. Hamilton finished fifth after engaging in a close fight with Verstappen.

The victory marks Russell's second of the season and Mercedes' seventh in eight races.
