Top seeds Elena Rybakina and Coco Gauff advanced to the quarter-finals of the Stuttgart Open on Thursday. Rybakina, the Australian Open champion, defeated Diana Shnaider 6-3, 6-4. American Coco Gauff, ranked world number three, overcame Liudmila Samsonova 7-5, 6-1.

Mirra Andreeva set up a highly anticipated match against Wimbledon champion Iga Swiatek. Andreeva beat Alycia Parks 7-6(3), 6-3, extending her clay-court winning streak to six matches this year.

Rybakina, playing her first clay match of the season, demonstrated a strong performance, not facing a single break point on her serve. Gauff, also making her clay debut, recovered from an early deficit in the first set against Samsonova to secure the win.

Swiatek, the third seed, began her clay season with a win over Laura Siegemund. Andreeva has a 2-1 head-to-head record against Swiatek, though all previous meetings were on hardcourt.
