March 29: Romania's head coach, Mircea Lucescu, has been hospitalized following an illness that occurred during a meeting prior to a training session. This development means he will miss the team's upcoming friendly match against Slovakia on Tuesday.
Lucescu, an 80-year-old former player and manager with experience at Inter Milan and Turkey, received immediate medical attention from the national team's staff. Emergency services then stabilized him before transporting him to a hospital for thorough investigations and specialized monitoring, as per medical protocols.
The Romanian Football Federation (FRF) stated that Lucescu's current condition is stable, but they are taking precautions to eliminate any risks. Romania recently lost in the World Cup qualifiers to Turkey on Thursday.
