Claressa Shields successfully defended her undisputed heavyweight championship in Detroit on Sunday, securing an 18-0 professional record with a dominant decision over American rival Franchon Crews-Dezurn.
Shields, a two-time Olympic champion, earned a unanimous decision with all three judges scoring the bout 100-90. This marks her second victory against Crews-Dezurn since Shields' professional debut in 2016.
Having become the first undisputed women's heavyweight champion in February 2025, Shields has now defended her WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO, and WBF belts multiple times. "I think today I showcased my skills, my offence, my defence and body shots. I almost had her out in round seven, but she just wouldn't go," Shields stated after the fight.
The bout was Shields' first under an $8 million multi-year deal with Salita Promotions and Wynn Records, described by promoters as the richest contract in women's boxing. Looking ahead, Shields expressed interest in facing WBO and IBF super-middleweight champion Shadasia Green in her next outing.
