Super Bowl champion Joe Theismann is downplaying the impact of the Jaxson Dart-Abdul Carter controversy, sparked by Dart introducing President Donald Trump at a rally. Theismann, a 12-year NFL veteran, says the locker room remains a politics-free zone focused on football.

"It doesn't have any effect," Theismann said. "Politics is one thing and sports is another, and we're starting to see them cross over. People have different opinions of a lot of different things in a locker room." He described the locker room as a "safe haven," where he never once discussed politics during his career with the Washington Redskins.

The controversy began when Carter criticized Dart for introducing Trump, but the teammates have since squashed the rift. Carter posted on X that "Me and JD6 are good! We spoke earlier as Men."

Theismann also took aim at social media, calling it "probably the worst thing that's happened to athletics." He urged perspective, adding, "It's nice to sort of take a step back and just let life exist."
