New York Yankees pitcher Cam Schlittler called stadium security to remove a spider from his locker before a spring training matchup with the Detroit Tigers. The incident occurred at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, Florida.

"A spider was successfully extracted from my locker today. Best security team in the league!" Schlittler posted on X.

The 25-year-old right-hander appeared in 14 games during the 2025 season, posting a 2.96 ERA with 84 strikeouts. He gained recognition during the American League Wild Card Series with 12 strikeouts against the Boston Red Sox.

This spring, Schlittler has started two games, recording a 1.50 ERA and 10 strikeouts. He is expected to join Gerrit Cole and Carlos Rodon in the Yankees’ 2026 rotation.
