Italian Serie A side Como 1907 has finalized a loan agreement for FC Barcelona’s teenage defensive prospect Xavi Espart. The deal, inked in early July 2026, is a clear financial signal in modern football, carrying a €2 million fee and a critical buy-back clause.

Born in 2007, Espart is a La Masia graduate who joined Barcelona’s youth ranks in 2015. He ascended to captain the B team during the 2025/26 season before making his senior debut under manager Hansi Flick in a Champions League fixture against Newcastle United this past March.

Flick has publicly touted the player’s tactical versatility, drawing comparisons to German legend Philipp Lahm. The move to Como follows failed loan attempts to Racing Santander and Real Oviedo, positioning the Italian club as the definitive stage for his continued development.

For Barcelona, the buy-back option confirms they view the young captain not as surplus, but as a long-term strategic asset maturing abroad.
