Ajax and FC Barcelona have agreed to a loan deal for goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen. The German international will join the Dutch club through June 2027.

The deal accelerated in late June, with Ajax covering the majority of the player's wages. Ter Stegen approved the move and reportedly returned from vacation early to finalize the agreement.

The 34-year-old joined Barcelona in 2014. He has lost his starting position and sought regular playing time. Ajax provides a starting role in a competitive European setup.

For Ajax, this is a significant signing. Manager Míchel and sporting director Jordi Cruyff identified the goalkeeper position as a priority.
