Star striker Robert Lewandowski is joining Major League Soccer. The Polish international has finalized a free transfer from FC Barcelona to Chicago Fire FC. The deal, announced June 29, 2026, includes a two-year contract keeping him in Chicago through 2028.
Negotiations began in late 2025, with Chicago Fire publicly confirming interest in May 2026. Lewandowski reportedly chose Chicago over other offers, visiting the city beforehand to assess the project.
The transfer was free as Lewandowski's Barcelona contract expired. He brings over 700 career goals and extensive experience from Bayern Munich and Barcelona to MLS.
