Super Bowl champion Stephon Gilmore announced his retirement from the NFL on Thursday after 13 seasons. Gilmore, 35, made the announcement in an Instagram post, reflecting on his career from a humble upbringing in Rock Hill, South Carolina to two Super Bowl victories and multiple Pro Bowls.

The Buffalo Bills drafted Gilmore with the 10th overall pick in 2012. He emerged as a superstar defensive back with the New England Patriots, winning the Super Bowl in 2018 and the Defensive Player of the Year Award in 2019 after leading the league with six interceptions.

He also played for the Carolina Panthers, Indianapolis Colts, Dallas Cowboys, and Minnesota Vikings. Gilmore finishes his career with 617 tackles, 32 interceptions, five Pro Bowl selections, and two All-Pro honors.
