Serena Williams will make her long-awaited return to professional tennis at next week's Queen's Club Championships in London. The 44-year-old, a 23-time Grand Slam champion, will play women's doubles with Canadian teenager Victoria Mboko.
Mboko confirmed the partnership on Instagram, writing: "The Queen is back. An honor to share the court with one of the greatest athletes of all time."
Williams has not competed since the 2022 U.S. Open. The pair received a wildcard for the WTA 500 event, which runs from June 8 to 14.
Williams has won 14 Grand Slam doubles titles with her sister Venus, and the sisters remain undefeated in major finals. Mboko, ranked ninth in singles, called Williams her "idol" during the French Open.
